The School’s pipe band and Highland dancers are world famous

ALL boys are required to join the CCF from S2 upwards. The CCF has Army, Navy and RAF Sections, which allow for weekend training, air experience flying, sea-going attachments and annual Summer and Easter Camps, both in the United Kingdom and abroad. Each Easter Holiday there is a Ski Camp at Aviemore for boys of all three Sections.
The School’s Pipe Band and Highland Dancers have a world-wide reputation. Traditionally, the Pipe Band has played at all home Rugby Internationals at Murrayfield, as well as throughout Scotland; Highland Dancing Teams have appeared in Scotland and abroad and made impressive appearances on television. All boys in Primary participate in piping or drumming or dancing and boys in the Senior School are encouraged to continue to the Pipe Band or Senior Dancing Teams.
The School has its own two minibuses and a Landrover, all of which are used extensively; expeditions, camping and weekend projects are encouraged. Similarly, Masters are able to arrange frequent visits to the theatre and concerts, as well as outings and visits at the weekends.
Boys may voluntarily take part in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme to qualify for Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards.
