We arc part of the Independent Schools Football League, playing in the Northern sector and our opponents include Dollar, Strathallan, Glenalmond, Dundee, St Leonards and (iordonstoun. Each team plays each other in a league and the top two at the end of the season go through to the Knockout Cup competition against the Edinburgh and Glasgow sides.
The football team during training looked promising. A lot of young talent is coming through, in particular David Honeyman and Stuart Mooney, which enabled more flexibility within the side. We still had the regulars, the likes of Kris Reid (Captain), whose commitment and determination in both training and in the games cannot be faulted, Liam Flynn, solid in defence and Stephen Gale, who really developed his game over the season.
Our first match against Glenalmond proved to be a little disappointing in many respects, losing 5-2. The next game versus Dollar was completely opposite to the previous experience. We came across a very well organised and structured side, who played intelligent fast flowing football. They managed to cope with the poor conditions and constantly put us under pre ssure in the first

half. In the second half we were a little more composed but still gave the ball away too easily when under pressure. The score will remain a secret; suffice to say it was in double figures and we scored 1.
So it was back to the drawing board and after a little soul searching and reorganisation of the team we went to Strathallan for our next encounter. With a lot of end to end football and plenty of chances missed at both ends, eventually, we came away with our first victory. The team played sound football, with the units linking well together and the movement off the ball creating problems for the opposition.
Our last fixture, due to time running out, was against St Leonards. This was our only home fixture in which we showed our true potential. The playing surface allowed us to put passes through to our speedy attackers, which they utilised well. The season finished with a good win but, unfortunately, we did not make it through to the knockout competition. We learned a lot of lessons for next season and with more youngsters coming through we should do well.
