The School is, indeed, indebted to the President of the Old Victorian Association, Lt Col Ron Smith who was the originator of the whole project and it is with much pleasure that I reprint his own most fitting words which he read out so movingly during our Service of Consecration. Words from a Victorian to Fallen Victorians'.
"Annually in November the nation and thus the school family gathers on Remembrance Sunday to honour the memory of those who died on active service during the two World Wars. In particular, they remember those Old Victorians whose names ore recorded on the two War Memorial Plaques and in the Book of Remembrance in the Memorial Chapel.
Last year, whilst engaged on historical research relevant to the School, I realised that there was

no reference to any Old Victorians who had died on active service outwith the two war's. As there has been only one year since 1945 without a member of the Armed Forces dying on active service, I concluded that there could be Old Victorians amongst those who have fallen since 1945. Back copies of the Victorian confirmed that suspicion and today we have gathered to remember three Old Victorians. In order to do so effectively the OVA proposed that a New Memorial should be placed in the Chapel and Her Majesty's Commissioners readily agreed. The three OVs who gave their lives are;

becoming a Detective Sergeant. He was killed by a booby-trap whilst searching a house in Jerusalem in 1946.
WALLACE MACGREGOR (1877) Wallace left the school in 1 942 to train at the Army Apprentice School, Aborfield. On mustering, he was posted to the R.A.O.C, latterly transferring to REME. He was posted to Palestine and killed by the Stern Gang in Haifa in 1946.
ROBERT MARSHALL (2015) Robert left the School in 1 946 for civilian life and then joined his father's regiment. The Kings Own Scottish Borderers. The Regiment was involved in some of the most intense fighting in the Korean War. Robert was only 19 when he was killed in action in 1952".
