The Pipe Band has had another busy year playing at the following Internationals: Scotland v. USA, Australia, Samoa, Wales and Italy. For those who do not attend Murrayfield, you may like to know that the marketing company has tried to dream up a different and more spectacular presentation each time using, for example, our Pipe Major as the lone piper in the top corner of one of the stands for the USA game and a number of pipers including our Pipe Major on the roof of another of the stands. What next?
In our first outside competition the Pipe Band came 9th out of 31 Pipe Bands in our grade. In addition the Pipe Band and Highland Dancers performed together at the Erskine Hospital Appeal Ball in Glasgow and the Opening Ceremony of the Global Citizenship 2000 Conference at Alva Academy.

The Highland Dancing teams came 1st and 2nd at the Argyllshire Gathering, won the Alasdair McLean Challenge Cup and Chris Niven won the Poltalloch Cup. At the Aberdeen Festival in April, Andrew Martin was joint winner over all (and overall boys winner) in the National competition for beginners.

The Director of Erskine Hospital commented that, "our residents thoroughly enjoyed their excellent performance and were delighted to see them all".

Narrow losses against Strathallan 1st XV, Glasgow Ac 1st XV and Linlithgow Ac 1st XV illustrated what might have been.
The 1st XV captain, Chris Harris, represented the new organisation Caledonian Reds U.18; Chris Niven, Kris Reid, Adam Bott, Kris Edwards, Gerald Kerr, Michael Brown, Colin McDonald were all chosen for the Caledonia U.17 development squad and Liam Flynn and Paul Tyson were selected for the Central Crusaders.
The Hockey 1st XI have had an outstanding season playing 11, winning 9, drawing 1 and losing 1. The only game lost was against St Leonard's but there were excellent wins against a wide range of schools as will be seen from the list in the Hockey report. Once again, the side was captained extremely well by Lisa Milligan and there is no reason why this side should not go on to even better things as they will lose only 1 player this year and there are a
