their "solo wings"—Andrew Crawford, Richard Gallacher, lain Lavery and Geoffrey Richardson. Tom Gemmill gained the Certificate of Advanced Gliding, which is only the second such award since the RAF Section was formed. Six of our NCO's have appointments to attend the Officers and Aircrew Selection Centre at R.A.F. Biggin Hill during the Summer to undergo selection for Flying Scholarships. Mr. Urie has spent much time and many rounds coaching on the miniature range. Eight marksmen and eleven 1st Class classifications have been awarded to date. Geoffrey Richardson is to be congratulated on shooting the "possible 80" in the Empire Test Thomas Gemmill, Russell Gillespie and Philip Ross have been running the aircraft modelling club during their free Wednesday evenings as well as many hours over the weekends. They now have as many aircraft suspended from the ceiling of the RAF Hut as can be seen at any Air Display!
ANNUAL CAMP
R.A.F. College, Cranwell, Lincolnshire was the location for our Summer Camp 1973, attended by twenty-eight cadets and two masters. The accommo-

dation was luxurious with each cadet having own room. Despite two days of torrential rain the original training programme was completed with the cadets totalling 10 hours 3 minutes of flying time. Every cadet had the opportunity of firing the "SLR" with the RAF Regiment. James Blake qualified for R.A.F. Marksman Badge; Six CCF marksmen, six 1st Class and seven Second Class classifications were gained. Twenty-seven R.A.F. Swimming Proficiency Certificates were awarded to contingent. Inter-School competitions were organised orienteering, navigation exercises, drill, shooting and swimming as well as in the less popular and old fashioned room inspection. In the final reckoning our School's RAF Section "was adjudged the most efficient flight during the CCF Summer Camp" and each cadet was presented with a suitably inscribed certificate at the final parade. The Station Warrant Officer, who judged the drill competition wrote in his report that the QVS Section "would have brought tears of joy to a Guards Drill Instructor's eye." Visits were arranged to R.A.F. Wittering and R.A.F. Waddington as well as to various parts of the College and Engineering complex. During these
