to date this was attended by some 32 members and friends. Our resident M.C. and accordionist, David Inglis, duly took over, and thanks to Mrs. George Munro and her magnificent buffet, this was voted our best-ever social evening. Looking onward we have another social evening and get together on 28th March at the Victoria Club, 11 Albany Street. All welcome. On this rather more cheerful note I finish with my usual appeal to younger members. We are assured of facilities. Why not get together and use them. A Disco ? The dance floor can take about 50. Anything you like to organise. I can assure you of support from the senior members.
"A very interesting letter was received this year by Major McQueen, President of the OVA, from W02 D. R. Peachey, of the Royal Australian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. Mr. Peachey was at QVS from 1944 to 1950. After twenty-three years' regular service with the British Army he was offered and accepted, a post in the Australian Army. Now a senior Warrant Officer he is engaged in servicing and maintaining army aircraft and helicopters. Mr. Peachey's school days began at DYRMS, so by the end of his service, as he writes, he will have worn four uniforms, DYRMS, QVS, British and Australian Armies. While at QVS he played the clarinet in the School Military Band. He writes warmly of QVS, as his old School, and of the sound foundation and senss of values and self-discipline which he felt the School gave him. Also of the interest in all kinds of sport, first developed at QVS, which he has retained all his life. He concluded his letter by saying how proud he was to be an Old Victorian." CENTRAL BRANCH
By the time this letter appears in print, we shall have entered into the final year of office under the Constitution passed in 1972. The setting up of the Branch posed many problems and difficulties, which was only to be expected, many of these have since been solved. It is realised that we shall encounter further problems as time goes on and the numbers of members grow, it is better that they should occur in the early stages, so that the Association may find its feet.

We are under no illusions that we shall depart from our term of office unscathed, no doubt we have made mistakes over the past 2 years, we only hope succeeding officials will learn a lesson from them. Unfortunately, what does not seem to have been appreciated by Members, is the fact that only two officials have been available to carry out the organisation and administrative work, arrangements for functions, and the despatch of correspondence world wide. Many times we have been rushed off our feet, therefore look kindly upon us, we were doing our best under trying circumstances. At the Reunion held in March, a large number of members visited the School to watch the rugby match, and later look round familiar haunts. We would like to see many more next year. The Annual Dinner was held at the Westlands Hotel, Dunblane, which was well attended. Jimmy White was the sole organiser, and judging by the comments passed by the Comdt. Headmaster, Admin Officer, and their ladies, and many members of the Association, he made a very good job of the affair. On Sunday morning, Glasgow, London, Edinburgh and Central Branches laid wreaths in the Chapel at the Memorial Service. The salute at the March Past by the boys, was taken by Donald McQueen, London Branch. The marching display by the Pipe Band and the display by the Highland Dancers was greatly appreciated. The A.G.M. was very poorly attended. The Headmaster, Mr. John Melluish was introduced at the Meeting. He made his mark right from the start, and we wish him well in his appointment. During the year we have received correspondence from W. E. Plunkett and C. Rush residing in Canada, R. McArthur in South Africa, C. J. A. Stewart in Australia. Dudley Vosser DYRMS/QVS is now Safe Inspector, Marine Division, NZ Government. He is also a First Class Football Referee and has had the honour of controlling the Cup Final in Wellington in 1973.Campbell. During the year the School has received two handsome presentations from senior Old Victorians. The first was two fine silver cups from Captain R. G. Shaw, which have been made the School trophies for Athletics and Badminton. The second was a shield which has provided a very suitable trophy for the Wavell House Football competition. This was presented by Mr. F. E. Hetherington. Commandant, 21 May 1974
