Editorial

This is the second edition of the "new look" Victorian. As in the summer, the production has been carried out almost entirely by the boys, on the basis of one senior boy and one junior boy to each department. The standard of entries has been good, but it is hoped will be better for the next summer edition.
In our effort for variation the colour scheme of the cover has been changed. The original transformation last summer received much criticism, but think back to the drab regimental-type cover of previous years. A change for the better?
The long cherished dream of a language laboratory is now a reality. It has been installed in the room next door to its conventional counterpart. Perhaps now there will be an even greater incentive for the

language students. The logical sequence of events now, is to introduce German into the School curriculum.
Speculation amongst 6th year boys is growing as talk of the possibility of a four-term year for Scottish schools is discussed. This would enable 6th year boys to leave school after the examinations and prevent the "vacuum" of idle bodies wandering around the school grounds doing nothing.
In this edition of the magazine there is a "letter to the Editor" entitled "In Defence". Letters or practical criticisms of this kind are a rarity and this letter, unlike the normal vicious criticisms, rather praises the summer magazine. A hopeful glow amongst all the controversy concerning the first edition of the "new" Victorian.
